Business and Investor Visas

Australia has a range of business and investor visa options that aim to attract successful international entrepreneurs and investors to Australia to establish their business and investment portfolio.

If you own a business (fully or in partnership) that meets certain criteria such as minimum annual business turnover, you may be able to move the business to Australia and/or purchase an established similar business.

Depending on your business and investment level, you may choose one of the five streams under the Business and Investor (subclass 188) visa. These visas are usually given for a temporary period of about 4 years. If you have met certain requirements in this period, you will be eligible for a permanent visa (subclass 888).

You may also be able to apply directly for a permanent visa such as a Business Talent Visa (subclass 132).

Applying for a business or investor visa is a two-stage process:

  1. You’re first required to be nominated and approved by an Australian State or Territory.
  2. After being successfully nominated by an Australian State or Territory, you will then be invited to apply for your visa.

    • You’re required to have owned and managed a successful business with a turnover of more than AUD$750,000 for at least two years in the last 4 years before being invited to apply for the visa
    • You (or together with your partner) owned personal and business assets of at least AUD1,250,000
